CONNECTED Materials: found metal, welded steel At the 1st East Lake International Ecological Sculpture Biennale was kicked off on December 17, 2017, in the Sculpture Gallery and its outdoor space, Jiufeng Urban Forestry Reserve, in collaboration with The Hubei Museum of Art, Wuhan.      Made of material found at a local scrap yard while working in, Wuhan. The former purpose of the metal rings were used as wheels that once held spools of industrial electric cable that now lines and gives power to the ever growing ever, changing city of Wuhan, China. The nature of the material will change through, climate creating a patina painted by the weather. My sculpture presents two interlocking spheres of difference that are coming together creating a never-ending loop of connection to each other.

Golden Nugget 2017,  The sculpture resembles a traditional Chinese scholar rock made up of industrial materials, such as cinder block, steel, insulation foam, acrylic, spray paint, and bronze.    Gold nugget is a work of art paying homage to Chin's Chinese American Taishan heritage. The work itself represents a time in history touching on Chinese Diaspora and the journey to “GUM SAN” (Gold Mountain: America), materialism, the California goldrush, the building of the transcontinental railroad, the American dream, truth, deception, greed, struggle, ornamental objects scholarly traditions, spiritual practice, religion, superstition, paradox, and the role of art in our contemporary society.      Presented by Destination Luxury Magazine and Los Angeles Fashion Week

WINTER WONDERFUL: ESTATE OF TONY PRITZKER Held Dec. 3 at the Beverly Hills home of Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker with its dramatic open-to-the-skies interiors and spectacular views of the city, the annual sale of designer  wreaths raised more than $80,000 for the charity’s mission to help foster children find adoptive homes. Although I’ve already attended three charity events at the Pritzker home, I always look forward to parties there and applaud the Pritzkers for so generously opening their home to so many good causes. (Other fundraisers were ABT’s Stars Under the Stars Gala and the  UCLA Institute for the Environment’s Inaugural Gala.)    The one-of-a-kind wreaths - several of them pictured in the photo gallery below - sat on easels in rooms throughout the home. Contributors included Virginia Madsen, Lilakoi Moon, Andy Griffith, Rose Apodaca, Nina Segal, Sharon Segal, Trina Turk, Kirk Nix, Joan Ransohoff, Suzie Parkinson, Alan Chin, Shiva Rose, Tissy Eggleston, Kathleen Rosenbloom, Sigitas Sniras, Darius Gylys, and many other artists, designers and celebrities.

	 BUY THE BOOK
About the Book In 2011, the Richmond Art Center (also known as RAC and located in Richmond, California) had a two part exhibit titled "Beyond Tradition: Art Legacies at the Richmond Art Center". Anthony Pinata, then RAC Facilities Manager and Exhibitions Assistant, curated the first part, and with the help of then RAC Exhibitions Director Emily Anderson, co-curated the second iteration. The exhibits highlighted 110 artists who exhibited at or were affiliated with the center from the 1950s to the early 2000s. This exhibit catalogue contains not only images of the exhibit, but also testimonials by the participating artists, former curators, and introductory statements by legendary curator Peter Selz and Richmond-based artist John Wehrle. The latter part of the book has a selected list of RAC exhibits from 1951 to 2010 which gives a window into yesteryear when many now famous Bay Area artists frequently participated in exhibits.
